Abstract

Ideally, young children aged 5-6 years are able to name familiar letter symbols, name groups of pictures that have the same sound or initial letter and understand the relationship between sounds and letter shapes. However, what happened at Ra Ahlul Quran Lamsidaya Aceh Besar, especially the ability to recognize letter symbols, has not developed optimally compared to other abilities. This research aims to improve the ability to recognize letter symbols through letter tree media in group B1. This research uses classroom action research which is carried out in 2 cycles, in each cycle it is carried out through planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The subjects of this research were 10 children aged 5-6 years at RA Ahlul Quran Lamsidaya Aceh Besar. Data collection was carried out by observation. The results of the research showed that in cycle I the number of acquisitions in the BB 30% category amounted to (3 children), the MB 20% category amounted to (2 children), the BSH category 30% amounted to (3 children), the BSB 20% category amounted to (2 children). In cycle II there were no BB and MB categories but there were 30% with 3 children in the BSH category, and 70% in the BSB category with 7 children. It was concluded that the ability to recognize the letter symbols of children in RA Ahlul Quran who were stimulated through the medium of letter trees showed an increase, this can be seen in the ability of children who were able to name the letter symbols on the letter tree.
