Abstract

This research was motivated by leg muscle power training in improving the performance of Pencak Silat athletes in the Poriak camp of Geulumpang Raya, West Aceh. To get kick points in pencak silat, you really need strong leg muscle power and the problem that arises here is weak leg muscle power in the Poriak pencak silat athletes of the Geulumpang Raya camp, West Aceh. In addition, the aim of this research is to determine the leg muscle power training program in improving the performance of Pencak Silat athletes in the Poriak Kubu Geulumpang Raya, West Aceh. This is because leg muscle power plays a very important role in improving the performance of pencak silat athletes. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach, and the population in this research is 2 Pencak Silat trainers from the Geulumpang Raya camp. The results of this analysis are descriptive in nature, so in this section the researcher describes all the interview results from the coach's process of creating a leg muscle power training program in improving the performance of the Poriak Pencak Silat athletes, Kubu Geulumpang Raya, West Aceh as follows: Research results of the leg muscle power training program in improving the performance of Pencak athletes The Geulumpang Raya stronghold silat is going well and the leg muscle power training program created by the coach to improve athlete performance has proven successful at the IKAPTK championships throughout the South West region and the Acting Regent of West Aceh championships. To train leg muscle power, the trainer uses several training methods, namely (1) training methods using weight equipment such as squats, leg presses, various other methods. (2) training methods using nature, such as stance training, running on the beach, squat walking, and other training methods. Based on the results of the analysis of the Pencak Silat training program in the Poriak camp of Geulumpang Raya, West Aceh, it can be concluded that the leg muscle power training program in improving athletes' performance has proven to be successful.
