Abstract

This study aims to determine the validity and feasibility of discovery learning-based mathematical modules with material on equations and quadratic functions and to see the effectiveness of the module. This module requires students to carry out activities to collect information, compare, categorize, analyze, integrate, organize material and make conclusions. Data collection was carried out several months in odd semesters. The researcher carried out two stages of assessment. The first assessment was a trial of filling out the mathematics learning module assessment questionnaire conducted by three high school teachers and one lecturer at Bina Bangsa University Getsempena Banda Aceh. The second assessment is filling out a student analysis questionnaire conducted by class X MIPA students via the Google form. The method used by researchers in research is the R&D (Research and Development) method, in order to produce valid products and test the effectiveness of these products. The stages carried out by researchers are: 1). The Defining Stage (Define) is carried out to get an overview at school, for example an overview of how the learning process is in the classroom and the characteristics of students, 2). Design Stage (Design), 3). Development Stage (Develop). The research activity was carried out at SMAN 14 Iskandar Muda Banda Aceh class X MIPA with a total of 35 students. Based on the research implementation, the module can be declared valid with a percentage of 86.07 so that the module can be used in learning activities. From the results of student responses to the practicality of the module, a percentage of 84.4% can be obtained. It can be seen that the learning resource that is often used is to focus on textbooks. Students consider the learning done by the teacher is normal. Therefore, more students agree with the implementation of a learning system based on discovery learning in the equations and quadratic functions module.
