Abstract

The upper serve ability of volleyball extracurricular participants at SMA Negeri 1 Pasie Raja is still low and there is still a lack of variations in training to improve volleyball serve. To overcome this, one of them can be given the treatment of arm muscle strength training, namely push up exercises. The formulation of the problem in this study was: "Is there an effect of arm muscle strength training on the results of the upper serve in volleyball extracurricular participants at SMA Negeri 1 Pasie Raja?". This study aims to determine the effect of arm muscle strength training on the results of the upper serve in volleyball extracurricular participants at SMA Negeri 1 Pasie Raja. This research approach is quantitative with the method and design used one-groups pretest-posttest design with treatment of 16 meetings. The population in this study were all extracurricular participants. The sampling technique was total sampling, so the samples in this study were all volleyball extracurricular participants at SMA Negeri 1 Pasie Raja, totaling 12 students. Data collection techniques in this study used the service accuracy test AAHPER serving accuracy test from Richard H. Cox (1980: 101-105). The data analysis technique used is to calculate the average value (mean), standard deviation and mean difference test (t.test). The results showed that there was a significant effect of arm muscle strength training on the results of the upper serve in volleyball extracurricular participants at SMA Negeri 1 Pasie Raja. Thus it can be concluded that: "There is a significant effect of arm muscle strength training on the results of the upper serve in volleyball extracurricular participants at SMA Negeri 1 Pasie Raja", the truth is accepted.
