Abstract

Smash is the main blow in the attack in an effort to achieve victory in volleyball. The results of preliminary observations on Star Raider VC Banda Aceh athletes found that some of the athletes did very little sit-up and back-up exercises as one of the factors that could influence the results of smash accuracy. Athletes who took part in the training were only a few students who produced targets in carrying out smash movements as the coach hoped. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of sit-up and back-up exercises on smash ability in Star Raider VC Banda Aceh volleyball athletes. The method used in this study is an experimental research method. Experimental research is a study that is always carried out with the intention of seeing the effects of a treatment. The results of this study stated that training using sit-up exercises and back-up exercises could improve the smash ability of Star Raider VC Banda Aceh Volleyball athletes. This is because when doing sit up exercises, namely a sit up movement which in practice is a movement that is carried out repeatedly. With sit-up exercises, players are trained to improve their abdominal muscles, the abdominal muscles function as a spring for the player's body in hitting smashes.
