The low reading ability of children is caused by the lack of variety in learning activities carried out to develop language, especially reading. This can be seen when learning to read simple pictures, the teacher draws on the blackboard, and annotates the picture with writing next to the picture. The formulation of the problem in this study How is the application of picture word cards to improve children's reading skills in Selanga Daya Lamno Aceh Jaya Kindergarten? How is the technique of implementing picture word cards to improve children's reading skills in Selanga Daya Lamno Aceh Jaya Kindergarten?. The type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The instrument used was an observation sheet, the number of samples was 10 children 6 girls 4 boys and the data were analyzed using the percentage formula. The results showed that in the first cycle the number of presentations had not developed 30% (3 children), 4 children began to develop (40%), while developing as expected 2 children (20%) and in very well developed 1 child (10%). In the second cycle, 1 child (10%), started to develop 1 child (10%), the developing category as expected was 20% (2 children) and in the very well developed category was 60% (6 children). Based on these data, it can be concluded that playing picture word cards can improve children's reading skills.
