THE ANALYSIS OF FEMINISM OF THE MAIN CHARACTER IN ZOOTOPIA MOVIE

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze feminism values that contained in the Zootopia movie. This research is done to find out the feminism values in Juddy Hopps’ utterances in the Zootopia movie. The method used in this study was qualitative research. In this research, the researcher used document analysis instrument in content analysis to analyze the utterances in the movie by also examining the transcript integrated with John Fiske’s semiotic. The researcher used John fiske’s semiotic modified by the researcher in writing the sheet of result analysis as an instrument. The primary data were the utterances of the main character in Zootopia movie. The technique used in collecting data is watching and reading the transcript of Zootopia movie, highlight the dialog of Juddy that contained feminism values and interpreting the result of collecting data and conclusion. The technique used in analyzing data is semiotic analysis according to John Fisk’s steps. The results of this research were indicated that Joddy Hopps’ utterances contained 9 values such as, freedom, diversity, equality, integrity, non-discrimination, justice, accountable, independence and solidarity.
