Abstract

The results of initial observations in class V are known that when learning activities take place the teacher delivers the material in a lecture so that students are less actively involved resulting in less student understanding. This causes the process of teaching and learning activities in the classroom disrupted and certainly has an impact on decreasing student learning outcomes. To attract students' attention, the researchers are interested in using a cooperative model. Cooperative learning models by working together have many types, one of which is Broken Heart or also called puzzle (Komalasari, 2013: 26). The formulation of the problem in this study are: what is the effect of using the Broken Heart type of cooperative learning model on student learning outcomes in social studies subjects in class V SD Negeri 69 Banda Aceh ?. This study aims: to determine the effect of using the Broken Heart type of cooperative learning model on student learning outcomes in social studies subjects in class V SD Negeri 69 Banda Aceh. Research approaches using quantitative. This type of research is an experimental study with one-group pre-test-post-test design. The sample in this study was the fifth grade students of SDN 69 Banda Aceh, totaling 27 students. The instruments in this study were the pretest and posttest tests. The results showed that based on the average qualification of the final test (posttest) using the t test, the value of t_count = 4.42 and t_table = 1.70, so t_count≥t_table was 4.42> 1.70, then H_o was rejected and Ha was accepted. The improvement of the Broken Heart Type Cooperative Learning model is in the high category that is 0.7> g ≥ 0.3. Based on this, it is said that the use of the Broken Heart Type Cooperative Learning Model has an effect in improving the learning outcomes of Grade V students in SD Negeri 69 Banda Aceh.
