Abstract

Abstract

Fine motor development of early childhood is one aspect of development that is very important to be improved. One of the efforts to increase fine motor development can be done by using old newspapers to be used as newspaper pulp. The purpose of this study (1) was to determine the teacher's efforts in developing fine motor skills through used newspaper pulp materials for children in group B-2. (2) To identify the obstacles faced by teachers in developing children's fine motor skills through used newspaper pulp materials for children in group B-2. (3) To find out the impact of using newspaper pulp on the fine motor development of children in group B-2 Kindergarten of Kota Baru Banda Aceh employees. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type, which is the subject of research is the teacher of group B-2, amounting to 1 person. Data were collected through interview techniques and supported by documentation observation data. The data collected were analyzed using the model from Miles and Huberman, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. The results showed that: (1) The teacher's efforts in developing the fine motor skills of children in group B-2 Kindergarten employees of Kota Baru were carried out in various ways including by combining methods, media, games and one of them by using old newspapers to be used as newspaper pulp. (2) Obstacles faced in developing children's fine motor skills through used newspaper pulp materials are constrained by the time of making newspaper pulp, raw materials for used newspapers and the implementation of learning which takes quite a long time. (3) The use of used newspaper pulp has an impact on the fine motor development of children in group B-2 Kindergarten employees of Kota Baru as indicated by 52.94% of children developing as expected and 35.29% of children developing very well.
