Abstract

This research aims to analyze students' mathematical communication skills on the material of SPLDV (System of Linear Equations of Two Variables) class X at SMAN 11 Banda Aceh. In this research, the method used is a qualitative research method. The Data collection techniques in this study are documentation, tests, and interviews. The objects in this study were 3 students of class X MIPA 3 SMAN 11 Banda Aceh who were taken from 28 students. The determination of the object of research is based on the results of interviews and the resilts student mathematical cpmmunication skills tests. Students mathematical communication skills are categorized inti three types, namely high (T), medium (S), low (R). based on this type, one student from each type was selected to be the object of the study. Based on research results, mathematical communication skills for high-ability objects meet four indikators of mathematical communication ability namely the 1st indicator (able to write down what is known and asked in problem), 2nd indicator (capable of writing calculation operations according to the data provided), 3rd indicator (able to interpret the solution obtained or use a comprehensive representation to state mathematical concepts and solutions), 4th indicator (using tables, pictures, models and others to convey explanations). Moderately capable objects meet three indicators of mathematical communication ability, namely the 1st indikator (able to write down what is known and asked in problem), 2nd indicator (capable of writing calculation operations according to the data provided), 4th indicator (using tables, pictures, models and others to convey explanations). However, low-ability objects achieved the same indicators as the medium-ability objects but there is an error in the work of the question, namely an incorrect calculation.
