Abstract

One of the roles of parents in children's education is character building, and one of the
character building is to teach independence to children according to the child's level of
development, especially if both parents are working, the formation of this independence is
very supportive for children's development, children are trained not to be so dependent in
the parents. The formulation of the problems in this study are: (1) How do parents
understand the importance of early childhood education (2) What activities are carried out
by parents in stimulating child development patterns. (3) What are the obstacles faced by
parents when providing learning to children. The objectives are: (1) To find out how parents
understand the development of early childhood education. (2) What are the activities carried
out by parents in training their early childhood education skills outside of school hours. (3)
To find out what are the obstacles faced by parents when providing learning to children.
The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this
study were 4 children's parents. The results showed that: Parents' understanding of the
importance of early childhood education is very important, where children get education
that will continue to the level of elementary school (SD), and children will understand the
basic learning provided by the teacher when in school. Activities carried out by parents in
stimulating the pattern of children's development are different, this is influenced by the
work of the parents because there are parents who have full time to work in a day and only
have time at night to teach their children. The obstacle faced by parents when providing
learning to children is that sometimes children do not want to listen to parents' orders,
because the child's education level is still unstable and also depends on the child's own
ability
