Abstract

In a fun learning process can be created when applying learning methods and using interesting
media so that students are motivated in learning and play an active role in the learning process.
The activeness of students in the learning process is an important factor because it affects the
level of student ability. This research was conducted in class VB at SDN 10 Banda Aceh by
increasing student learning activities using the role playing method. Before the action is
carried out, the pre-cycle is carried out by observing students with the indicators: participating
in carrying out learning assignments, practicing themselves in completing assignments,
assessing students' self-efficacy and results, engaging in discussion and problem solving with
an average of 7.52. In the first cycle in the application of the role playing method, the students
were still less active during the learning process, with an average score of 20.63. Then in the
second cycle there was an increase in student activity in the learning process, the average score
was 27.41, it was proven by the number of students who explained fluently, answered the
teacher's questions, and provided suggestions for each discussion carried out. Aspects of
indicators in improving student learning activities are information content, word choice,
accuracy in explaining, expression and behavior, fluency, and voice volume. Therefore, the
application of the role playing method by increasing student learning activities can be applied
in class VB at SDN 10 Banda Aceh and can also be applied to other classes as well.
