Abstract

This research is entitled "Application of the 3-R (Read, Record Recide) Method to Improve
Reading for Second Grade Students of SD Negeri 22 Banda Aceh". The purpose of this paper
is to find out that the application of the 3-R method (Read, record, Recide) can improve
reading skills in second grade students of SDN 22 Banda Aceh. The subjects in this study were
the second grade students of the State Elementary School (SDN) 22 Banda Aceh, 26 students
with details of 12 students and 14 female students. Data collection techniques using
observation and tests. Data analysis techniques using the percentage formula. The results
showed that the students' activity in Cycle I had an average pretest score of 2.42, and an
average post-test score of 2.71. While in the second cycle the average value of the pretest was
3 (good), and the average posttest value was 3.57 (good). The activity of the Cycle I teacher
has an average pretest score of 2.42, and an average post-test score of 2.71. While in the
second cycle the average pretest score was 3 (Good), and the average posttest score was 3.57
(Good). Reading results can be seen that the average pretest cycle I opened 39.46, the level of
completeness opened 3.84% and the highest score was 70 and the lowest score was 30. the
average post-test cycle I returned 47.73, the level of completeness opened 23.07 % and the
highest score was 80 and the lowest score was 30. While the average score for the second
cycle of pretest was 63.34, the level of completeness returned to 50% and the highest score
was 85 and the lowest score was 30. Then the average post-test of the second cycle returned to
73.07, the level of completeness found 88.46% and the highest score was 85 and the lowest
score was 45.
