Abstract

Religious character needs to be instilled maximally from an early age, therefore the role of the
teacher is needed in shaping the religious character of early childhood. This study aims to analyze
the teacher's role in cultivating the religious character of children, to find out the activities carried
out by teachers in growing children's religious character and to analyze the obstacles faced by
teachers in cultivating the religious character of group B children at Save The Kids Kindergarten
Banda Aceh. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type, which is the subject of
research is group B teachers, totaling 4 people consisting of core teachers and accompanying
teachers. Data were collected through interview techniques and supported by documentation
observation data. The data collected were analyzed using the model from Miles and Huberman,
namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification.
The results showed that: (1) The teacher's role in cultivating the religious character of group B
children in Save The Kids Kindergarten includes the teacher acting as a learning resource by
providing materials related to religious character, the teacher acting as a learning manager by
creating an interesting learning climate, the teacher It also acts as a motivator for children. (2) The
activities carried out by the teacher in cultivating the religious character of children include correct
ablution, how to read the right prayer, telling the truth, apologizing if you make a mistake,
teaching prayer movements and respecting elders and I teach manners to children. . (3) What are
the obstacles faced by teachers in growing the religious character of group B children in Save The
Kids Kindergarten, including the low level of parental support for the growth of children's
religious characters, namely not following up activities to foster religious character when children
are at home.
