Abstract

Writing skill is a person's skill to express ideas in writing. The formulation of the problem in
this study is how the description of writing skills in children, what activities are carried out
by the teacher, what obstacles are faced by the teacher. This study aims to determine:
description of writing skills in children, activities carried out by teachers, obstacles faced by
teachers. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were
the core teacher, and the assistant teacher for class A1, class A2, and class A3 at AAzhar
Islamic Kindergarten, Cairo Banda Aceh. Data were collected through interviews,
observation and documentation. Data analysis used qualitative analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the
description of writing skills in children aged 4-5 years at Al-Azhar Islamic Kindergarten in
Cairo was well developed, where most children were able to write in the form of curved,
slanted, flat lines, letters, numbers. The activities carried out by the teacher are the first the
teacher trains the child's fine motor physical first (squeezing, cutting) palido, plasticine
where the child makes letters or numbers from plasticine, the first scribble book, holding a
pencil correctly, and dresing activities, namely imitating letters or numbers, thickening ,
and follow the dotted line.
