Abstract

The formulation of the problem in this research is: What is the picture of planting the character of responsibility in children and are there any obstacles in the formation of the character of responsibility for children in group B, Bungong Nanggroe Padang Tiji Kindergarten, Pidie? This study used a qualitative descriptive research method and was conducted in June 2020. The subjects of this study were the Principal, Core Teacher, Assistant Teacher, a total of 3 people. Data were collected through interviews. The results showed that character values ​​have been cultivated by teachers in schools either through action or habituation. So far, the teacher always implements the character of responsibility in children, such as giving good examples to children, for example throwing garbage in the place that has been provided, after playing, they have to tidy up play equipment again, as well as eating activities children are required to eat regularly and tidy up back tableware. As for the obstacles faced by the teacher in instilling the character of responsibility in children, namely the lack of parental support in instilling the character of responsibility in children. Parents prioritize academic ability so that character is neglected. Another example, teachers get children to keep tableware and play utensils after use, but this is not what parents do at home so there is no continuity between learning at school and at home. In addition, the same vision and mission and attitudes between core teachers and assistant teachers also have an impact on the success of the program in schools.
