Abstract

At this time children's interest in reading is very lacking because there is no interest in reading
books, especially for young children. Many children at an early age cannot read books, so the
School Literacy Movement program was created as a participatory effort to bring back reading to
children at an early age and to re-create children's interest in reading. This GLS was made,
because today at an early age children lack interest in reading because there are sophistications
such as smartphones, thus making children play more often using smartphones. This study aims to analyze and determine the implementation of the GLS program in TK Aisyiah Bustanul Athfal
Ulee Kareng Banda Aceh. The type of research conducted is descriptive qualitative and the
research method is in the form of exploration. In the technique of data collection is done by
interviews, questionnaires, observations and documentation which were analyzed using
descriptive analysis. For data analysis using Miles and Huberman models, namely data reduction,
data presentation and verification. The results of the research on the implementation of the School
Literacy Movement in Aisyiah Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten with the application of reading
activities 10 minutes before learning which began in 2015. The reading corner in Aisyiah
Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten is in the corner outside the classroom with a size of 2x3 meters as a
small library called the reading angle. The school literacy movement is an effort to increase
interest in reading and literacy so that when the school literacy movement is carried out properly
it can improve students' thinking skills.
