Abstract

The ability to speak in early childhood can be developed at home and
at school. The learning process is given to children as attractive as
possible, so that children can enjoy the learning process. One method
that can be used for early childhood in improving early childhood
speaking skills is through storytelling which aims to provide a
learning experience for children. The storytelling method can not only
be given at school by the teacher, but parents can also give bedtime
stories to the child. This study aims: 1) To find out the development
of the speaking ability of Group B children using the Storytelling
method in TK IT Cendekia Aceh Besar, 2) To find out the techniques
used in using the Storytelling method to improve the speaking skills
of Group B children at TK IT Cendekia Aceh Besar, and 3) To find out
the obstacles faced by teachers in using the Storytelling method to
improve the speaking skills of Group B children in TK IT Cendekia
Aceh Besar. This study uses a qualitative approach. The data used in
this study were obtained from interviews with group B teachers at TK
IT Cendekia, totaling 4 people. Data collection techniques in this
study were interviews, and observation. The results indicated that the
children's speaking ability using the storytelling method here varies
depending on the child's ability, the way they understand the
language acquisition they get, there are children who use language
that is easy to understand. The technique used in providing learning
that can develop speaking skills is one of them by giving space for
children to ask questions, smooth questions and relate them to the
person's life. The obstacle faced by the teacher in improving the
speaking ability of group B in TK IT Cendekia Aceh Besar is that not
all children can understand it well, because group B has just entered
school and the response is lacking.
