improvement of quality human resources In this case, education plays a very important
role in making it happen. Mathematics education is an element that has an important role
in life because it has a very close relationship with the reality of life. The purpose of this
study was to describe the mathematical critical thinking ability of the material of flatsided geometry in class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Mesjid based on Facione's theory. This study
uses a qualitative descriptive approach in describing how students' mathematical critical
thinking skills in the material of flat-sided geometry based on the Facione model. The
subjects in this study were class VIII students, totaling 6 students. Data was collected
through tests, interviews, and observations, then the data were analyzed using Miles and
Huberman's qualitative analysis model, namely data reduction, data presentation and
conclusions. The conclusion results show that the mathematical critical thinking skills of
class VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Mesjid Raya for each level of high, medium, and low
mathematical ability are different. In general, students' mathematical critical thinking
skills are still relatively low and very low, this is because the answers students who fulfill
