Abstract

Physical fitness is an important element for elementary school students, students are fostered as early as possible so that they are physically strong and have good physical fitness. Physical fitness is influenced by various factors, one of which is the environment where students live. In addition to housing, the Covid-19 pandemic also affects the level of physical fitness of students. This study aims to determine the level of physical fitness of upper-class students during the Covid-19 period in elementary schools in urban, mountainous and coastal elementary schools in Alafan District, Simeulue Regency. This study aims to determine the difference in the level of physical fitness between elementary schools in urban areas, elementary schools in the mountains and elementary schools on the coast in Alafan District, Simeulue Regency. This study uses a qualitative research design with a descriptive type. The population of this study was all upper grade students (IV, V and VI) at SDN 1, SDN 5 and SDN 9 Alafan with a total of 126. The sample was determined by purposive sampling as many as 30 people, 10 students were taken from each school. Data was collected through the TKJI test technique for ages 10-12 years, the data collected was analyzed using a simple percentage formula. The results showed that: (1) The level of physical fitness of upper-class students during the Covid-19 period in elementary schools in urban areas, elementary schools in the mountains and elementary schools on the coast in the Alafan District, Simeulue Regency was not affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic because during the Covid-19 period students remained carry out various daily activities because the Alafan District is not included in the Covid-19 red zone. (2) There is a difference in the level of physical fitness between urban (SDN 1 Alafan), mountainous (SDN 5 Alafan) and coastal (SDN 9 Alafan) students, only 20% of students in urban areas have good TKJI, 50% moderate and 30% others are included in the less category. TKJI students on the coast as many as 40% are in the good category, 50% are in the medium category and 10% are in the less category. Meanwhile, 10% of students in the mountains are in the very good category, 60% are in the good category and another 30% are in the medium category.
