Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze an English teacher’s professional competence in teaching narrative text at man 2 Aceh Besar. In addition, the purpose of this study also presented some information related to the teacher’s professional competence in teaching  narrative text. Based on some previous research conducted by some experts, some of the teachers had problems in implementing all of the teacher’s professional competence aspects and some of them also did not have good professional competence. Therefore, in this study, the researcher analyzed whether an English teacher of MAN 2 Aceh Besar had good professional competence. Moreover, the design of this study was a case study. Furthermore, to collect all of the data that related to the research problems, the researcher used observation and questionnaire. As a result, the research finding showed that the English teacher had good professional competence in teaching narrative text. In this case, the English teacher had good professional competence based on all the teacher’s professional competence aspects. To illustrate, the English teacher understood the material well, understood the students, organized and implemented the learning strategies, used media and technology in teaching narrative text, and evaluated the learning outcomes.
