Abstract

Listening has a very big role in the language learning process, therefore we need suitable media and strategies to develop language skills, especially listening skills in early childhood. This study aims: (1) to analyze the use of audio-visual media in stimulating the listening ability of children in group B, (2) to analyze the impact of using audio-visual media in stimulating listening skills in children in group B, and (3) to analyze the obstacles faced by teachers in using media. audio visual for children in group B at Al-Washliyah Kindergarten Alue Naga Banda Aceh. This study uses a descriptive qualitative design, the subjects of this study were 2 teachers of group B Al-Washliyah Kindergarten. Data was collected through observation, interviews and documentation. The data collected was analyzed using Miles and Huberman's version of qualitative data analysis, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. The results showed that: (1) The use of audio-visual media in stimulating the listening ability of group B children used a type of film, namely an animated video that was shown using a laptop with active speakers, so that the teacher effectively adjusted the sitting position of the children so that it was possible to hear and see the video. played on the laptop. (2) The impact of using audio-visual media in stimulating listening skills in group B children is that before using audio-visual media, children's listening abilities were very low, which was under 50% developed. After using audio-visual media, the number of children who developed their listening skills increased to more than 80%. (3) The obstacle faced by teachers in using audio-visual media for group B children is the unavailability of supporting tools for using audio-visual media, such as screens, laptops and speakers. In addition, the teacher is also constrained by the availability of videos that are in accordance with the theme being studied.
