Abstract

Motor impairment in children under 5 years of age is estimated at 5–3%, and as many as 60% of cases are found to occur spontaneously at the age of under 5 years. One of the activities that can stimulate children's fine motor development is rocking geometric shapes. The purpose of this study was to improve fine motor skills in children in Group B4 TK Negeri 1 Banda Aceh in the 2021–2022 academic year. This study used Classroom Action Research (CAR) and was carried out in TK Negeri 1 Banda Aceh with a total of 20 children. The problem with this research is that the development of fine motor skills in group B4 TK Negeri 1 Banda Aceh is not yet optimal. After being given action through meronce activities, the results showed a good improvement. This can be seen from the results of observations in each cycle. As the results of the first cycle of observations in the immature category (BB), as much as 7%, starting to develop (MB), as much as 40%, and developing as expected (BSH), as much as 50%. And the category of Very Good Development (BSB) 3% with the level of student learning completeness is still below the classical mastery standard, namely with a percentage of 45%. While in the second cycle, the category of undeveloped (BB) was 0%, starting to develop (MB) was 10%, and developing as expected (BSH) was 45%. And the category of very well developed (BSB) is 45%, with a classical completeness level of 95%, compared to the supposed 75%. Based on the description above, with the progress in each cycle, it can be concluded that the activity of mixing geometric shapes can improve fine motor skills in group B4 TK Negeri 1 Banda Aceh children. Learning through geometric shapes can be used as an alternative learning that can be developed to improve children's fine motor skills.
