Abstract

Children who have naturalist intelligence tend to love the outdoors, are close to pets, and often spend time near animals or plants that they like. From the results of preliminary studies, it is known that the naturalist intelligence of the Pertiwi Lhoknga B1 kindergarten children is still low. One of the efforts to increase naturalist intelligence can be done with kinetic sand media. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of the use of kinetic sand media, the description of children's naturalist intelligence and to determine the activities carried out with kinetic sand by children of group B1. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were the head and teacher of group B1. Data is collected through interviews and documentation. Data analysis was conducted by referring to Miles and Huberman's opinion that there were three activities in qualitative data analysis, namely data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions / verification. The results showed that (1) The use of kinetic sand media had a positive effect on the naturalist intelligence of children in group B1. (2) The naturalist intelligence of children through the use of kinetic sand media is shown by the sensitivity of the child to the school environment such as throwing trash in its place, watering flowers, caring for plants in school and various observing activities, investigating the lives of small creatures such as worms, ants, caterpillars, etc. (3) Activities carried out with kinetic sand media include making various types of animals that fit the child's imagination, forming soil mounds from the pair, forming holes where animals hide and also various types of plants formed from kinetic sand.
