Arm Muscle Strength, Lower Service

Abstract

The ability to serve under the students is still not maximal, this can be seen from the students' service often leaving the field, not reaching or getting into the net and the services that are carried out are not directed, not fast and hard, making it easier for opponents to receive the ball. The formulation of the problem in this study is: there is a relationship between arm muscle strength and the ability to serve under volleyball in class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Setia Bakti. This study aims to determine the relationship between arm muscle strength and the ability to serve under volleyball in class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Setia Bakti. The approach used in this research is quantitative with the correlation method. The population in this study were 11 grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Setia Bakti in the academic year 2020/2021. The sampling technique is total sampling, so the sample in this study amounted to 11 students. Data collection techniques used are tests of arm muscle strength (push ups) and the ability to serve down. The data analysis technique was used by calculating the average value (mean), standard deviation (SD), correlation coefficient and significant test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between arm muscle strength and the ability to serve under volleyball in class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Setia Bakti. The results of the analysis showed that the t-count value of the arm muscle strength on the under-serve ability was 3.093, while the t-table with 11-2 degrees of freedom (dk = 9) at the significance level α = 0.05 was 1.833. This means that the t-count value is greater than the t-table value or 3.093 ≥ 1.833.
