Abstract

This study aims to describe the learning process of compiling explanatory texts and to describe the increase in the ability to produce explanatory texts for students of class XI MIA 1 SMAN Baitussalam. This improvement effort, then, uses the NHT learning model. The type of research used was classroom action research which consisted of two cycles, namely cycle I and cycle II. Data collection techniques through tests of student learning outcomes and observation of student and teacher data. Which is analyzed qualitatively. The subjects of this study consisted of 22 people. The results showed that improving the ability to write explanatory text in class XI MIA 1 SMAN Baitussalam can be done by using the NHT learning model. The results of the first cycle test obtained on student learning outcomes data obtained an average of 65.04 in the sufficient category. While cycle II obtained an average value of 86.8 in the very good category. While the student activity data in cycle I obtained an average of 2.02 from the range 1-4 belonging to the sufficient category. While cycle II obtained an average of 3.35 in the good category. Teacher ability data in cycle I obtained an average of 3.55 from the range 1-5 in the sufficient category. While cycle II obtained an average of 4.8 in the very good category. So from cycle I to cycle II there was an increase, and these results can be concluded that the learning model can improve the ability to write explanatory texts for students of XI MIA 1 SMAN Baitussalam.
