PERAN GURU PENDIDIKAN JASMANI DALAM MEMBENTUK KARAKTER SISWA PADA MTsN DI KOTA BANDA ACEH

Physical education teachers have a very strategic and urgent role in shaping and educating students' characters. Therefore, the teacher must be able to be a good example or role model for their students. This research focuses on MTSN in Banda Aceh, which researchers specialize into three MTsN consisting of MTsN 1, MTsN 3, and MTSN 4 in Banda Aceh City because these three MTsN highly uphold the character values of students and the formation of values about how to behave or act well in interacting with the Creator and other individuals. This study aims to find out how the role of physical education teachers plays in shaping the character of students at MTsN Banda Aceh City. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation, as well as analysis using descriptive and qualitative analysis techniques, The research subjects consisted of 3 physical education teachers and 15 students at MTSN 1, MTSN 3, and MTSN 4 Banda Aceh. Based on the results of data processing, it is known that the role of the physical education teacher in shaping the character of students at MTsN in Banda Aceh City, especially at MTsN 1, MTsN 3, and MTsN 4 in Banda Aceh, is to teach character values and act as an inspirator, an exemplar, a motivator, a dynamicsator, and an evaluator in theory and practice to students so that they are familiar with character values. The physical education teacher has carried out his role in building the character of students and I at MTSN 1, MTSN 3, and MTSN 4 Banda Aceh and teaching about character values, even though teaching is done on all character values that are still not optimal, especially those related to dynamics such as responsibility and hard work.
