Abstract

Menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) is pain felt in the pelvic area due to menstruation and the production of prostaglandins. Pain will decrease after menstruation, but in some women pain can continue to be experienced during the menstrual period. In some women, the menstrual pain felt can only be a faint pain, but for some other women it can feel strong and can even result in disrupted activities (Najmi NL, 2014). The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of relaxation techniques with warm compresses against reducing dysmenorrhea pain in female students at SMA Negri 1 Darul Imarah Aceh Besar. This type of research is Pre-experimental Design with a one group pretest - post test approach. The population in this study was all students of SMA NEGRI 1 NURUL DARUL IMARAH who experienced dismonare pain, a sampling technique using purposive sampling, namely researchers determined sampling by establishing special characteristics. Bivariate analysis in this study was used to see the effectiveness of warm compresses against reducing dysmenorrhea pain which was carried out using a pretest-posttest test against 2 mean. The data obtained from the pretest and posttest results were collected and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Rank Test using SPSS. If Sig. < 0.05 then H0 is rejected, meaning that relaxation techniques with warm compresses against reducing dysmenorrhea pain are effective. If Sig. > 0.05 then H0 is accepted, meaning that relaxation techniques with warm compresses against reducing dysmenorrhea pain are not effective.
