Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease with an increasing incidence worldwide. DM is a group of metabolic diseases with characteristics of chronic hyperglycemia due to impaired insulin secretion, insulin action, or both, which reduces insulin action in target tissues, resulting in abnormalities in carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism (Miranda Adelita, 2020). the effect of education of diabetes mellitus patients on knowledge of controlling blood sugar levels in dr. Zainoel Abidin Hospital, Aceh Province. The leaflet method with a quasi-experimental design with a sample size of 32, using the paried t-test. Based on the T count >-4.535 compared to the T table value of 2.03951 and the P value <0.05 there was an increase in understanding. By distributing questionnaires, the effect of education on diabetes mellitus patients on knowledge of controlling blood sugar levels using leaflet media at dr. Zainoel Hospital, Aceh Province.
