This research aims to determine the types of students' errors in writing recount texts in the tenth grade of Science 1 SMAN 1 Indrapuri in the 2023/2024 academic year. This research design is a qualitative method using qualitative descriptive research. Ten students of Science and Technology 1 SMAN 1 Indrapuri are the population of this study which consists of 28 students as an experimental class. The data collection instrument is document analysis and discussion. The challenges of student errors in creating recount texts are found through document analysis. Data analysis techniques include data presentation, data reduction, and drawing conclusions. The findings of this research show that students make mistakes when writing recount texts in terms of vocabulary, writing structure and grammar. The researcher then analyzed four students' mistakes in writing recount text, and found that the most common mistakes students made were word replacement errors or substitution errors.
